Playing Tips
- Extra bank storage
submitted by Rilellore
Even with the new slots and the shared bank spaces, the bank tends to fill up pretty fast. What you can do for some extra slots is to take a run to the Gnome outpost in Iceclad Ocean on Velious. One of the merchants there sells Deluxe Toolboxes for about 1pp 5gp. They have 10 slots, so 2 more than a backpack. With the original bank you now get 16 extra slots and with the expanded bank you get 32 extra slots. Or if your lazy, ;o) , you can go to the bazaar and buy trader sachels, these are also 10 slot, but are only good for bank, because they weight, 25s and cost a little more, approx 2pp each.
- Easy experience for Enchanters in FV
submitted by Rilellore
Near the giant Iksar statue by the path along the ridge in FV, the pilgrims and the drixies wage a constant war with the evil spider creatures of the continent. They appreciate some help though, so much so that if you mezz one of the spiders when they are almost dead, the drixies and pilgrims walk away and leave it alone, leaving you to get all of the experience by blasting it with a nuke. It can take a little while to get the timing right so that you don't mezz it with too much life or it dies just before your mezz lands, but its worth trying. Get a sow if you can though, until you manage to get it right.
- Casting
submitted by Lowtothe
- Ducking (pressing D) while casting will interrupt your casting. This does not work on a mount however
- /tgb on - lets you cast group spells on another group without having to be invited
- alt+# (e.g. 1) casts the spell in that spot
- Arrow keys left and right flip through the pages of your spellbook if you have it up

- Cure disease will cure Slow
- Cure poison will cure Tash
- If the cleric has divine aura on, or the bard is playing their divine aura spell, they will not teleport with you and nor will they succor
- Targets
submitted by Lowtothe
- /target will target the closest thing whose name is unique. This works on mobs too. For example. There are 2 players named Fred and Fredrick on the raid, both not in the group. Fredrick needs healing. Type /tar Fredr and as long as Fredrick is within 50 feet of you (forwards or backwards - doesn't matter) she will get selected to be your current target. If you type /tar Fred and both Fred and Fredrick is within 50 of you, your current target will not change since Fred is not a unique name
- /ttell. Targeted tell. Useful for sending a tell to the owner of a corpse. Works for the living too
- For characters with pets, pressing the respective group select function key (F1 - F6) twice will target their pet, provided the pet is within 50 feet of you
- Pressing F1-F6 targets respective person in group
- F7 targets the closest player in view
- F8 targets the closest NPC in view
- /assist will tell you what target the person has
- /assist with a mob targeted will tell you who the mob is attacking
- The Hole
submitted by Lowtothe
To get into The Hole, go down to the bottom where the pond is in Paineel. When you are in the water, in the upper right portion of the rocks there is a hole you can squeeze through. Wolfform helps in doing this. Keep trying and eventually you'll make it through.
- Corpses
submitted by Lowtothe
- To find a corpse that is missing, make a hotkey with /target and run around hitting the hotkey. When you are in range of the corpse, you will see the name appear in your target window. Then type /corpse to summon it
- How to drag multiple corpses:
Make a hotkey(s) with the following:
/corpse
/pause 2
/corpse
/pause 2
etc for as many corpses as you need. You will need to move slowly, but you will be able to summon multiple corpses along as one giant pile

- Macros
submitted by Lowtothe

- %o returns the objective pronoun (him, her, or it)
- %p returns the possessive pronoun (his, her, or its)

- Sit aggro
submitted by Lowtothe
Sitting causes Agro with mobs. This can work to your advantage if the mob doesn’t summon. If you need to keep a mob off the tank for a moment, sit and as it comes towards you, stand back up. This is known as ping ponging the mob. The mob will go back and forth between you and the tank.
- Other Stuff
submitted by Lowtothe
- Ducking significantly reduces falling damage when running on hilly terrain
- Dropped swords/daggers point north
- To stop moving quickly while on a horse, just click off the horse icon
- Large sewing kits can hold giant items. This is very useful at times
- Numlock will turn autorun on

- If you are on a high-speed connection, find the file datarate.txt in your EQ Directory and change it so the value is 9. This will cause larger packets to be downloaded to you (decreasing lag)
- Chat Channels
submitted by Rilellore
To join a chat channel you have to use the command /join <channel name> and then to leave a channel you use the command /leave <channel name> . When you do this you will get a message such as 1=Trade(68). This means that you are in channel numbr 1, which is Trade and that there are 68 people in there. To get a list of all the chanels you are in type /list and to obtain a list of people within a channel type /list <channel number> . You can set the game to sign you into channels when you automatically join on by using the command /autojoin <channel name> , <channel name> etc, where a comma separates the names. Some widely used chat channels are Trade for buying and selling and Plane for looking for planes groups. To type in a channel you use /<number>
- NEW Tradeskilling
submitted by Nerissa of Knights of Raging Flame
All the clicking you need to do while skilling up can get very tedious so one thing to make life easier is to tapt the CTRL key down so that only 1 item from a stack is automatically picked up. You will need to untape when talking and dealing with merchants.
